Annette Lemieux is a conceptual artist based out of Boston who has participated with InterReview in various capacities, including her contributions as a featured artist in 2004-2005. She has extensively exhibited her work throughout the United States and Europe since 1984, and has an upcoming mid-career retrospective entitled The Strange Life of Objects: The Art of Annette Lemieux at The Krannert Art Museum, Champaign Illinois, opening January 2009. She is a professor of the practice of studio arts at the department of visual and environmental studies at Harvard University.

As in Messenger, Lemieux’s work utilizes a rigorous formal appropriation to make a given conceptual framework overt. For the past two decades her practice has often dealt with issues surrounding recent American history and violence. What we love about her work is the specificity and positivism it entails. It is a dialectic of transcending violence through the use of aesthetic signifiers, humor, and other thoughtfulisms.
